Welfare Ministry

We yearn to be the visible expression of God’s love and compassion to the community and to glorify Christ through our love for those who are less fortunate.

The Welfare Ministry manages three funds, namely the Benevolent Fund, Cancer Support Fund and Mercy Ministry Fund. While the Benevolent Fund and Cancer Support Fund cater to PBC members, the Mercy Ministry Fund covers non-PBC members, disaster-relief works, non-governmental organisations concerned with social welfare, as well as the community at large.

The Benevolent Fund and Mercy Ministry Fund minister to individuals or families facing hardship or crisis by temporarily assisting them in their basic needs through financial support.

Similarly, the Cancer Support Fund assists needy individuals suffering from cancer by funding their medical treatments as well as medication.

A pertinent point to note is that our funding assistance is never to be used
to induce conversion. Indeed, we assist without strings attached as an act of love from the Body of Christ.

“We love because He first loved us.”
(1 John 4:19)

Besides financial support, the Cancer Support Committee also organises talks and forums by medical professionals every two months, which encompasses cancerrelated topics as well as general healthcare. We also work closely with Visitation Ministry members to reach out to cancer patients, caregivers and survivors.

There are also two other ministries under the purview of the Mercy Ministry Fund, i.e. New Hope Ministry and Manna Box Ministry.

The New Hope Ministry was set up to meet the needs of young adults with learning disabilities. We organise worship, Bible storytelling and art work to occupy the learning-disabled students’ time from 10.00am to 12 noon every first Saturday of the month.

As for the Manna Box Ministry, we collect non-monetary offerings at our Main Foyer after each service and distribute them to people with needs.

Going forward, we will continue to strengthen our outreach programmes with
the aim to improve the welfare of needy people in our community, as we seek to love like Christ and witness for Him.
