Assisting those in dire financial and medical need with care and support

As the name suggests, the fund was set up to assist church members who are in financial difficulty. After receiving some information on prospective cases, we then visit those individuals to obtain their backgrounds and details. If the proposal sent via email is approved by the Benevolent Fund Committee, then funds are channeled into those in need within a week.

Operating under a set of guidelines approved by the Elder & Deacon Board, the Benevolent Fund Committee consists of three persons – Tung Seok Hooi, Allen Oh, Ong Seng Leong and Thomas Lim whose advisor is Elder Tan Seng Kee. Discussions on the suitability of each prospect are communicated through email or telephone.

In recent years, we have seen a deluge of requests to assist with the expenses of nursing homes and senior citizen homes. We expect such needs to increase as the population ages and would encourage church members to keep an eye out for people in need and to divulge any such cases to the Committee members or any Elder or deacon.

While cancer remains a somber and deeply sensitive subject, we make our monthly sessions as informative and helpful as possible to those who are concerned about it and want to find out more! We invite speakers from diverse specialisations to deliver talks at our meetings and some of them have been nutritionists and doctors with expertise in anti-aging and regenerative medicine.

Aside from organising monthly meetings, we strive to provide care, love and support to stricken patients and their caregivers. Occasionally, we visit them.
